About Old Ottawa East
Old Ottawa East, or Ottawa East, is situated between the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River. This small neighbourhood was originally the suburban community of Archville. It was incorporated as the village of Ottawa East in 1888 and became part of Ottawa City in 1907. This quiet community features charming brick homes and townhomes and is bisected by Main Street which is filled with restaurants and shops. A strong community association is involved in traffic, local development, neighbourhood safety, heritage and social issues. The neighbourhood is home to Saint Paul University, Lady Evelyn Alternative School, St. Nicholas Adult High School and Immaculata High School.
